When we come together as a community, we can learn so much about one another. We realize each one of us is a diverse piece of the colorful and powerful whole we center ourselves within every day. At MARC Community Resources, we’re always finding ways to bring our community together to enrich people’s lives with the knowledge, skills, and stories we’re willing to share.
This year, we are taking full advantage of our new property at 25 Industrial Park Rd. to provide opportunities that unite our community. We are thrilled to begin our latest project, The Remembrance Terrace.

The Remembrance Terrace will be an everlasting community memorial. Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), their families, volunteers, donors, and members of our community can safely, accessibly, and peacefully gather to enjoy one another’s company. All while honoring loved ones who’ve enriched our lives and continue to do so. Donors can have bricks engraved or choose a memorial or honorary plaque on a garden bed or bench.
The terrace is part of a larger project that will promote physical activity in our natural surroundings and will include open grassy areas and a raised garden bed for our horticulture program. There are plans in the future to continue expansion with trails and interactive educational activities. AT MARC, we encourage a healthy lifestyle for people with I/DD and aim to provide it in the community and at home.

We’re currently awaiting bids from contractors, but we have received our first brick for the project! A huge thanks to Harry E. Burr, who has purchased a brick in memory of his good friend, John Sullivan of Portland CT. John was a kind and big-hearted member of our community and generously donated his time and money to area nonprofits and foundations. John received Middlesex United Way’s Tocqueville Society Philanthropy award in 2016 for his significant role in inspiring philanthropy. We feel privileged to lay this new foundation beginning with a brick dedicated to such a charitable soul.
If you would like to help fund this project and others, donate now!
