A message from Lori Lodge, Vice President of Development

“As I walk through the hallways of our programs and interact with the individuals in those programs, my heart swells with gratitude for our generous donors who help to make all this possible.  Donor support is helping to empower people with disabilities to fulfill their dreams and to live their best lives.  Thank you for supporting MARC and those in our programs.”

Other ways to give

Gifts from your will (Bequests)

Bequests are an easy way to support MARC.  A bequest to MARC can be made by creating a new will or adding MARC to your existing will.

Gifts of Appreciated Assets

The gift of appreciated stocks, bonds or mutual fund shares instead of cash is a way to get a charitable deduction for the full amount of your gift and avoid the impact of capital gains taxes.

IRA/RMD Distributions:

RMD’s (Required Minimum Distributions) must be taken each year beginning with the year you turn age 72 (70 ½ if you turn 70 ½ in 2019).  You can make a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) directly from your IRA to satisfy all or part of the amount of your RMD from your IRA.

Donor Advised Funds (DAF’s):

If you have a DAF, you can donate to MARC at any time. You can also designate MARC as the beneficiary.

Beneficiary Designations:

Name MARC as a beneficiary of a retirement plan (IRA, 401(k) or 403(B).

Gifts of Life Insurance:

  1. Name MARC as a beneficiary of an existing life insurance policy.
  2. Donate an existing, paid-up policy that you no longer need to MARC.
  3. Purchase a new life insurance policy and name MARC as the owner and beneficiary.

Donate Your Car:

Donate your vehicle through The Arc’s vehicle donation program and the proceeds will go to MARC Community Resources.

This information comes from The Arc  http://www.thearc.org/get-involved/ways-give/donate-car/ .  The program is run through the Arc and funds are distributed through them.

Tribute Gifts:

Honor someone you love with a gift made in their memory or honor.  Just click the “I would like to dedicate this donation” box and complete the tribute information.

Employee Match:

Many employers offer a Matching Gift program that will match the charitable contributions made by their employees, board members, spouses, and retirees.  Companies will generally match dollar for dollar.  Some will even donate double or triple the amount of the employee’s gift.

Workplace Giving:

Payroll deductions through your workplace makes giving to MARC easy.  You can support MARC through your employer’s United Way, CT State Employees or Combined Federal Campaigns.  Most workplace giving programs allow you to choose a specific charity to receive your donation.  Please designate MARC Community Resources when completing your workplace giving pledge.

In-kind Donations

In-kind gifts not only help raise funds at our events, but can also be used within our programs to enrich the activities that individuals participate in.

Sponsors:

Sponsoring MARC’s fundraising, forums and family events are a wonderful way to promote your company and reinforce your reputation as a good corporate citizen.

For more information, please contact Lori Lodge @ lori.lodge@marc-cr.org or (860) 342-0700 ext.121.

AmazonSmile:

Amazon.com donates 0.5% of the price of eligible AmazonSmiles purchases to MARC.  When you designate MARC Community Resources as your charity of choice on the AmazonSmiles portal of Amazon.com, MARC will immediately begin benefiting from your purchases.  AmazonSmile is the same Amazon shopping experience that you know – same products, same prices, same service.
